Food Gardening Project

Purpose of extra costs:
The work camp participation fee is strictly Euro 220 and this covers simple accommodation, food and project expenses office running/administrative expenses, certificate of participation during the camp, communication prior to, during and after the camp. Please note that this does not include travel expenses to and from the camp, pick up from airport so participants are asked to reserve a small amount of money for transport to the camp and vice-verse.

Camp Photo

Description: Volunteers will be involved in gardening and voluntary work in Wintervelt, Pretoria and different involvement in community outreach projects.

Type of Work: The gardening work will be during the day and later volunteers will be encouraged to participate in different community outreach exercises in to Wintervelt areas.

Any skills that volunteers possess is encouraged to be shared especially with sports such as football, basketball, netball, volleyball and so on.

Study Theme: Working on creation of community gardens, and other outreaches especially to youth in the communities,

Involvement in community sporting activities and outreach, Working with school children after school activities.

Accommodation: Accommodation will be in rooms at a home either in Wintervelt or Mabopane. Participants will be required to bring their own sleeping bags. The accommodation has flushing toilets and electricity.

Language: The community has multi-cultural people and English is mostly spoken with local languages such as Sotho, Zulu, and Tshwana to name a few.

Requirements: Qualification of participants: - Open minded, ready to interact with other people of different cultural background - Positive attitude - Willing to share his/her experiences - Flexible to live/stay in simple living conditions - Flexible to eat local food - Ready to do heavy manual work on the project and No experience needed

Approximate Location: Wintervelt, Pretoria

Notes: Sleeping bag, and mat, mosquito spray/lotion, sandals, working gloves and closed shoes are advisable. Rain coat, light working clothes during working hours and warm clothes at night, as it may turn out to be chilly; Torch or flash light; sport equipment or games to play with children.

Weekends are meant to be for free tours that the group can organize by themselves. All our work camps are reserved for cultural nights when each volunteer can present her/his country and culture.
