Easter Kids Village
Description: The Easter Kids’ Village is a 5-day family focused retreat. Building on the success of the Kids Village at One World Health and Wellbeing Festival, it provides a safe space for children of all ages to play, learn and create. Run by a consortium of likeminded parents and workshop facilitators with many years’ experience in education, coaching, drama and arts we ensure families can relax and learn together in an atmosphere that encourages children and parents alike to make friends and connections. Volunteers will assist work shop leaders as well as help out with activities around the site. This can be setting up rooms, collecting fire wood, cooking, moving furniture etc.
Type of Work: Volunteers will be responsible for the set up and take down of the infrastructure (tents/ marquees) as well as facilitating different areas during the festival. Most of the time this will be working with children at different activities however it is common for jobs within the site and catering team to require additional help from time to time. Work will be in a shift pattern normally morning or afternoon.
Study Theme: If provided, theme will be education - more details nearer the time.
Accommodation: Tents will be provided free of charge. You will need to bring a sleeping bag and sleeping mat. Come prepared for both rain and sun and remember it will get cold at night!
3 vegetarian meals a day will be provided with volunteers helping with the preparation. First meal will be dinner on arrival day and last meal will be breakfast on leaving day.
There are toilets and hot showers. There are no laundry facilities. There are places to charge phones. Wifi is available but there is limited access to a computer.
Requirements: Preferably experience with children but not required. Event and cooking experience also a plus. During the evenings there will be opportunities for volunteers to perform on the main stage. If you have a talent we strongly recommend coming prepared. PLEASE NOTE: As this is a short event there is no time off during its duration! Volunteers need to be OK with this.
Approximate Location: Near Bristol (England).
Notes: There is no extra charge for this project however there is an opportunity for volunteers to stay indoors for a nominal fee. PLEASE NOTE: application requires a motivation letter and a police background certificate.
This camp may be open to families and people with disabilities however as a lot of the festival takes place on grass wheelchair use is quite difficult. In all cases please discuss with IVS beforehand.
